Failed payment recovery estimator
Work out roughly what failed subscription payments cost you each month, how much of it is realistically recoverable, and what each tool in this category would charge you at that volume. Nothing is sent anywhere. It all runs in your browser.

What each tool would cost you at that volume

What this is and is not. This is arithmetic on numbers you typed, not a measurement of your account. It is good for answering "is this problem big enough to care about" and bad for forecasting.
Competitor costs use each vendor's published pricing as read on 27 July 2026 and are detailed on the comparison pages. Paddle Retain and Gravy do not publish standalone pricing so they are not in the table. Vendors change prices, so confirm before deciding.
How the numbers are calculated
- Failing per month is your MRR multiplied by the failure rate you set.
- Recovered is that figure multiplied by the recovery rate you set.
- RecoverFlow cost is 25% of the recovered amount, or $29, whichever is larger. The $29 minimum does not apply during your first 30 days.
- Competitor costs are flat monthly fees and do not change with how much is recovered, which is exactly why they win at high volume and lose at low volume.
- You keep is recovered revenue minus the tool cost.
The one number this cannot give you
Your actual failure rate and your actual decline mix. Both are sitting in your Stripe account right now, and they matter more than any assumption on this page. If you connect a Stripe account to RecoverFlow it reads your last 90 days of real invoices and tells you what genuinely failed, with no cost and no card required. If that number turns out to be small, you have saved yourself the whole evaluation.
Frequently asked questions
What percentage of subscription payments fail?
It varies a lot by business model and customer base. B2B SaaS billing corporate cards tends to sit at the lower end, consumer subscriptions on personal debit cards higher. Rather than assert a single number, this calculator lets you set it. The only reliable way to know your own rate is to read it off your Stripe account.
What recovery rate should I assume?
The default here is 35% and you can move it, because the honest answer is that it depends on your decline mix. Treat the output as a range rather than a forecast.
Which recovery tool is cheapest?
It depends on volume. Flat fee tools cost the same whether they recover a lot or nothing, so they win at high volumes. Percentage pricing wins at low volumes. The table above names whichever is cheapest at your numbers, including when that is not RecoverFlow.
Do you store anything I type here?
No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser and nothing is submitted or saved.
