RecoverFlow compared with the alternatives
These pages are written to be useful rather than flattering. Several of these tools will be a better fit than RecoverFlow depending on your volume and what else you need, and each page says so directly.

What Smart Retries and Stripe's failed payment emails already do for free, and where they stop.
vs Churnkey

The short version
Failed payment recovery tools price one of two ways. Most charge a flat monthly fee, often banded by your MRR or ARR. RecoverFlow charges a percentage of what it actually recovers: 25%, with a $29 per month floor that starts after your first 30 days and a $299 per month ceiling.
Neither is better in the abstract. A percentage is cheaper when your recovery volume is modest, because you are not paying a subscription in the months when little failed. A flat fee under $299 is cheaper once volume is high, because the percentage keeps growing until it hits our ceiling and their fee never moves. Every comparison page below shows the exact figure where that crossover happens.
Before any of this, check Stripe's own settings. Stripe includes machine learning timed retries and failed payment emails at no cost. If those are switched off, switch them on and see where that gets you before paying anyone. The Stripe comparison page covers exactly what you already have.
The rest of the market, as of 30 July 2026
The five pages above are the tools most people shortlist. They are not the whole market. There are around twenty-five live failed-payment recovery apps on the Stripe App Marketplace alone. Every price below was read from the vendor's own pricing page or their marketplace listing on 30 July 2026. Where a vendor does not publish a number, this says so rather than estimating one.
| Tool | Published price | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Churn Buster | From $149/mo, banded by MRR. Advisory from $1,000 one-off. | Calls itself the gold standard. Flat fee rather than revenue share. Free 20 minute call with a co-founder, credited back if you buy within 90 days. |
| FlyCode | Outcome based. Rate not published. | Charges only on revenue recovered above your existing baseline, which is a fairer basis than most. Free payment audit, 45 day money back. |
| Butter Payments | Revenue share. Not published. | Targets above roughly $10M ARR, so effectively unavailable to smaller businesses. Email, SMS and AI voice. |
| Slicker | Performance based. Rate not published. | The only one we found selling measured incremental lift over your existing setup, with A/B testing and statistical significance. SOC 2 Type II. |
| RecoverStack | $49 / $99 / $149 a month by MRR band. Founding discount to $29.40. First 90 days free. | Free read-only audit app as the front door. Aimed explicitly at bootstrapped SaaS founders. |
| Reecova | $49.99/mo plus 10% of recovered. | Free 90 day scan first. The only tool we found that automatically stops retrying non-retryable declines. |
| Rebounce | From $3.50/mo up to $10k MRR. | The cheapest we found anywhere. 14 day sequence with SMS and WhatsApp. |
| Airdun | $199/mo up to 150 recovery cases. | Email, SMS and WhatsApp, with per-case review. |
| RecoverPing | From $19/mo. | Multi step SMS and email sequences with configurable delays. |
| Gravy | Not published. | A human service rather than software. US based specialists phone your customers. Its own site arranges a fee by sales conversation, and third party sites quote percentages that contradict that, so we publish neither. |
| Vindicia Retain | Not published. | You submit transactions you have already written off. Deliberately no customer contact at all. |
Something worth knowing before you shortlist any of them, including us. Every tool in this category claims a recovery uplift and none of them can prove it, because Stripe's own free retries would have collected a share of those payments anyway. One vendor's documentation states plainly that a payment counts as recovered whether their retry landed it, the platform's own retry landed it, or the customer updated their card unprompted. Another publishes a methodology based on comparing against a three month average from before you switched it on, with no control group.
The only way to know what a tool actually added is to hold back a random slice of failed payments, leave them to your existing setup, and compare. When you talk to any vendor here, ask how their recovery number is calculated and whether a holdout was used. The answer is informative either way.
Before you buy any of them
A share of your failed payments cannot be recovered by any tool on this page, because the card is gone rather than temporarily short. Stripe will not even send nine of its decline codes to the card network. Working out how big that share is for you changes which of these tools is worth paying for, and sometimes whether any of them is. The retry waste calculator does that in your browser in a couple of minutes.
Frequently asked questions
Which failed payment recovery tool is cheapest?
It depends entirely on how much you recover each month. Flat fee tools such as Stunning at around $120 per month, Baremetrics Recover at $129 per month on top of a base plan, and Churnkey at $250 per month on Starter become cheaper than a percentage once your recovered volume is high enough. RecoverFlow charges 25% of what it recovers, with a $29 per month minimum after the first 30 days and a $299 per month ceiling, so it is cheaper at lower volumes and never bills more than $299 whatever it recovers. Each comparison page shows the exact crossover point.
Do I need a recovery tool at all if I use Stripe?
Not necessarily. Stripe's own Smart Retries are machine learning timed and Stripe can send failed payment and card expiry emails using your branding, all at no cost. Turn those on first. A paid tool is only worth it if you want control over the dunning sequence and sender, attribution of which recovery came from which action, or history beyond Stripe's 60 day email log retention.
How were these prices verified?
Each price was read from the vendor's own public pricing page on 27 July 2026 and the source is linked at the top of every comparison page. Where a vendor does not publish standalone pricing, such as Paddle Retain and Gravy, that is stated rather than filled in with a third party estimate.
